Planning Board Public Hearing Jan. 10, 2024 - Creation of a Mineral Extraction Ordinance
The Winthrop Planning Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Winthrop Town Office (All Purpose Room) at 17 Highland Ave. and (via Zoom) as part of the process to establish a Mineral Extraction Ordinance. The Planning Board will take public input regarding draft language which includes removal and reclamation standards, and municipal procedures to regulate the removal, processing and storage of topsoil, loam, rock, flat rock, sand, gravel, or other similar materials, other than metallic minerals and is intended to protect the public health, safety, and general welfare; and to minimize the potential adverse impact of mineral extraction to the town, abutting property owners, citizens of the town, and wildlife and natural resources.
