Existing land uses detailed in Town's Comprehensive Plan

A detailed report on how land is currently used in Winthrop has been posted at winthropmaine.org/comprehensiveplan, labeled as the Existing Land Use chapter from the Town's Comprehensive Plan update, which is nearing completion. The document is also attached below.

The plan's chapters contain background and data used to arrive at recommendations elsewhere in the plan. They are not, however, in a final draft form. We would appreciate the public's input and feedback. Please send comments to manager@winthropmaine.org.

As each chapter and table of recommendations from the plan is ready to be shared with the public, it is being posted at winthropmaine.org/comprehensiveplan. Voters will consider approving the plan in November.

The Comprehensive Plan was adopted by voters in 2010. Like that document, the update will serve as a roadmap of how citizens would like to see Winthrop develop in areas such as housing, economic development, future land use, preservation of natural resources, recreation, and transportation by providing recommendations on how to achieve goals in each of those areas. Goals will be accompanied by policies and strategies, and notations of the responsible parties for pursuing those recommendations.

This effort is being completed in conjunction with the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments (KVCOG).
