Notice of Proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendments
The Winthrop Town Council will consider two amendments to the Land Use Ordinance at its regular meeting April 6, 7pm.

Article I General
8. Amendments.
- Initiation of Amendment
An amendment to this Ordinance may be initiated by:
(1) The Planning Board provided four (4) of the Board members have so voted;
(2) Request of the Town Council to the Planning Board, or
(3) The Town Council, in accordance with the Winthrop Town Charter, and with notice to the Planning Board, or
(4) Written petition of a number of voters equal to at least 10% of the number of votes cast in the Town at the last gubernatorial election.
Article VI Definitions
Essential services - gas, electrical or communication facilities; steam, fuel, electric power or water transmission or distribution lines, towers and related equipment; telephone cables or lines, poles and related equipment; gas, oil, water, slurry or other similar pipelines; municipal sewage lines, collection or supply systems; and associated storage tanks. Such systems may include towers, poles, wires, mains, drains, pipes, conduits, cables, fire alarms and police call boxes, traffic signals, hydrants and similar accessories, but shall not include service drops or buildings which are necessary for the furnishing of such services. Additionally excluded is the development of electrical generation projects.
