Absentee Ballot Requests

Maine state law permits absentee ballots to be cast at any election by any voter who properly requests a ballot. If a voter is interested in voting in a particular election, but is unable to go to the polling place on election day, then the voter should obtain an absentee ballot.

Absentee ballots may be requested using the State of Maine Online Absentee Ballot Request Service here: https://www.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/AbsenteeBallot/index.pl

The statewide deadline for requesting an absentee ballot is at the close of business on the Thursday before an election day. Voters needing to obtain an absentee ballot after this deadline may do so if there are extenuating circumstances, such as medical emergencies.

A voter may also call the Town Office and request a ballot be sent by mail, prior to the deadline. As a reminder, no absentee ballots will be mailed prior to 30 days before any election.
